{the ride}.

Contemporary Pilgrim is more than thoughts and musings on travel and music. It is a way of life. A way of living. A way of sculpting each day into a journey.

Contemporary Pilgrims seek meaning and adventure with reckless abandon. We explore without fear. We take wrong turns, determined to get lost. We wander and absorb, crossing lines and borders.

We live without bounds.

We’re hydrated by experience and nourished by perpetual curiosity. Discovery and wisdom become our vitae – the causatum of a life well-lived.

We love the unknown and are kin to Lewis & Clark (pioneers), Magellan (explorer), Lindbergh (bold adventurer) and Earhart (all-in-one). We’re romanced by legends, be it Steinbeck or London, Grohl or Plant, while also creating our own paths. Some of us will follow in their footsteps, while others will bask in their glory. We’re inspired by the stories of peoples’ lives, whether a well-known inventor or the homeless Vietnam vet at 6th & Lamar. We are Goonies.

You can find us on backroads, aboard trains, having vino with strangers in foreign towns, or in the middle of a crowd at a rock show. We’re anywhere and everywhere, defining our lives by our lessons, our location and our discoveries. We’re always dancing, always voyaging. We listen, see, taste and feel.

We are drunk. As Baudelaire said, “You have to always be drunk. But on what? Wine, poetry or virtue, as you wish. But be drunk.”

We crave the raw inspiration and higher consciousness that stems from music – whether it be played on vinyl, amidst mountain acoustics, at a campfire pickin’ session, or in a bluesy N’awlins nook. We rock out. While we may move to the music, you better be damn certain we let the music move us.

We laugh. Every day. We are mischievous and find satisfaction in occasional chaos.

We’re along for the music, the lessons, the mischief, the {mis}adventures. We’re along for the ride that is life. Ride on, pilgrims, ride on.

“Our lives are museums. Curate as you will.”
